Privacy Policy - StopDirtyDataCentres.EU

This is the privacy policy for the "StopDirtyDataCentres.EU" coalition and campaign coordinating days of action on 6/7 November 2026 and calling for a moratorium on new data centres.

The campaign is coordinated by a Secretariat provided by Global Action Plan and the Green Web Foundation.

Global Action Plan is a registered charity (charity number 1026148, company number 2838296).

Green Web Foundation is officially registered as Stichting The Green Web Foundation in the business register of The Netherlands Chamber of Commerce.  

Global Action Plan acts as the Data Controllers and processors of your information under the UK Data Protection Act 2018 and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The Green Web Foundation acts as the EEA representative for EU GDPR.

Who we are and what we do

The "Stop Dirty Data Centres Days of Action" is a coordinated campaign across Europe to call for an immediate moratorium on large data centres. As part of this, we collect the names, contact details, and organisational affiliations of individuals and organisations to:

What data we collect and why

Sign-up Forms (Supporting Organisations & Individuals)

When you sign up to join the list of supporting organisations, or submit your details through a form to register interest in the Days of Action, your data will be processed to manage your participation.

We always aim to ask for the least amount of information possible. We will never sell this data.

Newsletters and Updates

To ensure that we communicate with supporting organisations and individuals through their preferred channels, and to enable us to share updates about the Days of Action and moratorium campaign, we collect contact details.

Helpdesk and Queries

If you contact us with questions about the campaign, we collect your name, email address, phone number, organisation, and the content of your query to provide an accurate response.

Website Analytics

We use Tinylytics to collect information on how this website and its contents are used. The data that is collected is anonymised.

Who has access to your data

Data collected through the "Stop Dirty Data Centres Days of Action" campaign is shared based on the specific role of the organisation within the coalition:

1. The Secretariat

Global Action Plan and the Green Web Foundation have full access to all data collected. They are responsible for the overall management of the campaign, the database, and the primary communication with supporters.

2. Mobilisation Partners (Data Processors/Co-Controllers)

Specific partners involved in the direct delivery of the campaign have access to relevant data necessary for their role. These partners include:

Data is shared with these partners only when it is necessary for the delivery of the campaign, such as coordinating local actions in their specific regions. They are authorised to use this information solely to fulfil their contractual obligations to the campaign and are not permitted to use it for any other purpose.

3. Supporting Organisations (No Data Access)

The long list of "Supporting Organisations" who endorse the campaign do not have access to the personal data of other supporters or participants. They are listed publicly (by name only, if they opt-in) but do not receive the underlying contact database.

4. Third Parties

We will never sell your details to other organisations. We may use approved third-party partner agencies (e.g., mailing houses, form processors) to process information on our behalf. These third parties are only authorised to use that information to fulfil their contractual obligations to us.

Lawful basis and data protection rights

Processing is based on the data subject who has given consent (Article 6(1)(a) of the UK GDPR) to the processing of his or her personal data for specific purposes (e.g., campaign updates, action coordination).

You have the right to request a copy of your data, request corrections, or request deletion at any time.

How we hold and process your personal data

The legal basis we rely on to process your personal data is article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR, which allows us to process personal data when its necessary for the purposes of our legitimate interests.

International Transfers

The Internet works as a global environment. Using it to collect and process personal data often involves the international transmission of data. Although this may happen, we ensure that data is held securely and in line with the requirements of UK data protection legislation. If you do not agree to your personal data being processed outside the European Economic Area, please contact us.

We take appropriate precautions to protect your personal information, including physical security and high-level digital security features. However, no data transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. Whilst we strive to protect your information, you disclose it to us online at your own risk.

Changes to this notice
